Summer Reading Weekly Book Giveaway
We are so excited to be participating in this Summer Reading Book Giveaway!
This is the last in a series of weekly giveaways hosted by Mother Daughter Book Reviews, a website where a mother and her daughter (and sometimes her son too!) share their opinions about the books they’ve read. Mother Daughter Book Reviews has been giving books away all summer and in this final week of giveaways, they’ve brought on board seven other bloggers who feel as passionately about children’s books as they do!
Because this is the big finale, there will be not one but NINE lucky winners!
A special thanks…
…to All Done Monkey’s sponsor for this giveaway, Theresa Gallagher, an Independent Scentsy Consultant. Theresa is a former teacher, so she was excited to be involved with anything that encourages children to read! Theresa is a good friend, and the wickless Scentsy warmers she sells are a great solution for anyone who loves scented candles but worries about having an open flame around their children. Also, be sure to check out the new line of Grace Adele purses and accessories she is selling. Thanks, Theresa!

Leanna’s Recommended Reads
The Parrot Tico Tango by Anna Witte
I give all credit to my mother for finding this gem. It was among a group of children’s books on Costa Rica she donated to our local library. My little Monkey and I fell in love with it instantly, as we read about the naughty parrot who steals fruit from his jungle neighbors. At the end, of course, he learns his lesson and comes to appreciate the value of sharing, so that he and all his friends can sample the fruits of the forest. The repeating rhyme is as much fun to say as it is to hear, and it would be easy to turn this into a kids’ game (hmm, watch for this soon!)
The Adventures of Polo by Regis Faller
This was my little Monkey’s favorite book for a looooooooong time. I love books without words, like this one, because they let you and your child build the story together using your imagination. And Polo gave us quite an adventure to work with! Throughout the course of this book, this fearless dog travels underwater to meet the king of the fish, helps a trapped snowman escape from an icy cave, parties with musical monkeys, and grills hot dogs over steaming volcano lava. What’s not to love?
Jazz Baby by Lisa Wheeler
This lyrical book is a recent find but one that has already become a favorite. My little Monkey and I both enjoy the rhythmical text, which fairly dances off the page, and the illustrations are simply brilliant. The pictures are interwoven with musical notes, which in turn can be seen playing drums and strumming string basses. The loving family in this charming book surrounds their baby with music and dance, as he adds his own beats to the family song. Best of all? The dance party gradually winds down into a lullaby as the baby is sung to sleep. Oh yeah.
