I am so excited because today is the first day of our collaborative series 31 Days of ABCs, dedicated to sharing ideas for teaching young children the alphabet. Today’s topic is “Anything ABCs,” hosted by This Reading Mama. See details at the bottom of this post!
That is why we love Kids Yoga Stories. They are fun and engaging just as stories, but they have the added benefit of getting kids excited about doing yoga. Author Giselle Shardlow cleverly weaves yoga poses into her stories, so that children learn to do a warrior pose, for example, to mimic a character who is surfing.
I am also lucky because Giselle is a personal friend, whom I met through Multicultural Kid Blogs, and I can tell you she is just as friendly and wise as you would expect a yogi to be!
We have had so much fun reading this book and practicing the yoga poses that go with it. Monkey also loves practicing his letters as he goes and learning about new animals. Even the adults will learn about new creatures from Down Under – yes, there are a few familiar faces sprinkled throughout (Koalas and Red kangaroos) but many new ones as well.
This book works so well on many levels – movement, literacy, learning about the environment – that I am excited to be giving away a copy to one lucky reader. Be sure to enter the giveaway below!
Disclosure: I was given a complimentary copy of this book for review; however, all opinions are my own.
This post will be linked up as part of the collaborative series 31 Days of ABCs. This incredible resource for parents and educators goes throughout the month of October: 31 days of activities, crafts, books, apps, and more, all dedicated to teaching young children the alphabet.
What makes this series unique is that it gathers together resources from a wide variety of kid bloggers, all organized by letter and topic. Each day a different blogger hosts, showcasing a craft or activity related to the letter of the day, with a linkup for other bloggers to share their posts for the same letter.
So join us as we jump, skip, hop, and read our way through the ABCs this October! Go to our main page for the full schedule.
