Find Community Through Books: ADM Global Reads 2024
While most of you know me for my reviews of books for children and teens, did you know that I also run an online book club for grownups? This low-stress, supportive group of book lovers from around the world has been a great way to find community through books.
Our reading list is filled with wonderful #OwnVoices books from around the world. Last year, for example, we “visited” Trinidad, Brazil, the US, Ukraine, the US-Mexican border, and the Congo. This year our booklist includes great reads set in Palestine, Sweden, Sri Lanka, Germany, Cuba, Chile and the US, including authors that are Black, Latinx, Jewish, Palestinian, Swedish-Nigerian, Indian-Canadian, and Native American.
Our supportive community understands how busy life can be. The book club is asynchronous, meaning that you can comment and respond to questions when its convenient for you!
Several times we have even been blessed to have Q&A’s with the authors. We will continue the tradition later this year with an interview with Puneeta Chhitwal-Varma, author of May’s book.
