Leanna graduated from Macalester College with a BA in Anthropology and History. She holds an MA in Cultural Anthropology from UC Davis and an MLIS from San Jose State University. During her undergraduate studies, she spent a year in Bolivia doing community building work through the local Bahá’í community.

Today she focuses on raising and homeschooling her three children as well as blogging.  She and her husband, who is from Costa Rica, are raising their children to be bilingual and bicultural but more importantly to be “world citizens.”

Leanna is the founder of the non-profit Multicultural Kid Blogs, an educational website providing resources and support to raise world citizens. She is the Social Media Manager for the non-profit Read Your World, which promotes diversity in children’s literature.
