Travel the World with Books: ADM Global Reads 2023
Here at All Done Monkey, I spend most of my time concentrating on books for children, but I love to read, too! To fuel that passion, several years ago, I started an online book club for grownups. It is a wonderfully warm group of people, and I love the thoughtful and candid discussions we have. Our focus is on global reads, and together we truly travel the world with books!
This past year we “visited” the US Southwest, Kenya, Cyprus, Korea, Ecuador and Sweden. This year we’ll be going to Trinidad, Brazil, the US, Ukraine, the US-Mexican border, and the Congo. We sampled all kinds of genres. The main criterion is that the book be about a non-dominant culture or place, with a priority given to #OwnVoices books.
The book club is asynchronous, meaning that everyone chimes in and responds to questions on their own time table. A convenient setup considering we are spread across so many time zones!
Several times we have even been blessed to have Q&A’s with the authors. We will continue the tradition later this year with an interview with Brynn Barineau, author of March’s book.
Read on to see where we will go this year! And join our online group for fabulous discussions!
